Around the World with Willy Fogg

3XFbLVcFXUosniff True to my word, I looked up Around the World with Willy Fogg on the wonderously nebulous internet, and I was quite overcome with memories. Above is the introductory song from the English version, bad dubbing and all, and it actually made my eyes well up quite unexpectedly. Ever so sorry.

But enough of that – the cartoon original series was from Spain, based on the Jules Verne story Around the World in 80 Days and was so amazingly popular across the world that two subsequent adventures tasked our four heroes, also based on Verne’s work – one based on Journey to the Centre of the Earth, and one on 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea. Those of a particular age I’m sure will have fond memories indeed of the adventures of Mr Fogg (also known as Fog, in some areas) and it may well have been my first encounter with the works of Verne in any form. Apparently, a kind soul is getting the DVDs for me as a gift, as Amazon.co.uk (Willy Fog – Complete Collection) seems to stock them.
