Out of Weta’s painting room have emerged  three awesome custome painted rayguns . Sourisak and Jonny have this time been painting on a World War II theme.

Firstly, there’s  “Der Adler or The Eagle, with a paint scheme reminiscent of a Messerschmidt BF109 fighter plane.

Then there’s the “Iron Tiger“, with a livery like the German Tiger tanks that sent chills down the spine of anyone inside an allied Sherman tank.

.. and finally “The Divine Ray” – taking a lead from the “Zero” Mitsubishi fighters that served in the Pacific and are the most commonly associated with Kamikaze – the Divine Wind.

These three guns will be available EXCLUSIVELY at Weta’s booth #2615 at Comic-Con in San Diego that opens in the evening of Wednesday 21 July. First come, first served (but to remain on display until Sunday)

A very special Art Exhibit is happening in Hartford CT July 9 – 16th. The Exhibit features the up and coming theme of STEAMPUNK. Hosted and curated by Joey Marsocci, Proprietor of Dr. Grymm Laboratories of Middletown, CT. This is the second annual STEAMPUNK BIZARRE Exhibit. Because of the size of the show and visitors last year, we have moved to a much larger venue. There are several artists from Middletown, New Haven, Hartford and throughout CT joined by artists from around the country and London, England making a total of 23 Artists. The event also features local vendors contributing to the design and food contributions.

This is a very big event that has turned an International eye from the Steampunk and  Art community, towards Hartford, CT. I have previously been involved in an international Steampunk Exhibit which took place at the Oxford Museum, UK which to date was the most popular exhibit ever to take place in the museum, turning around 75,000 visitors in just a few months.

Come and see what all the Hype is about!

Drew Hall sends via aethergram:

” I am working on a short film called “Lightning In The Bottle.”  In short it is a Teslapunk inspired parable about the quality of life for a strike hand, those responsible for the capture and delivery of product (lightning), who receives a raise.  Lightning In the Bottle captures the fantastical conjunction of science and nature that catapults a lowly strike hand to upper management above the clouds. The fantastic world in LITB is entirely powered by lightning. The strike hands, those responsible for capturing the lightning, work in some of the most difficult of circumstances. The short is both a science fiction parable and a corporate film showcasing the life of Frances Young and his rise to the upper heights of corporate management.

We have started a production blog, bottlethelightning.com, to open up the process to the world – this includes VFX breakdowns, writer’s quirks, and teasers [ its been described as dvd extras presented in reverse].  Currently we have a contest to help us lock down on the music bed for the teaser.  Each vote (via comment/like on Facebook enters the participant into a drawing to win a screen credit + a copy of the finished short on DVD.  We also have an  indiegogo page to help raise partial funding.  Lastly – here’s a link to the teaser via  vimeo .”
